Just the perfect little pair of boys makes this family oh so sweet. I will let the pictures do the talking.

Aloha and the island
I will only post 2 pictures from the vaca to Kauai here. It was beautiful and we all fit right in, just like the locals...really! Though my husband doesn't agree yet. I totally think so. :)
I just had to post a couple things from two weeks ago. We ventured down to Julian, CA for the girls to do a photoshoot with AH!mazing photographer Joy - of Wildflowers Photography - who was down there doing a workshop.
The first day ended in "fairy land" sunshine. My girls actually called this place fairyland. The second day started in rain and an almost canceled shoot, but ended in an enchanting setting among the milky fog.
I only managed to take a few pictures since it was just me and the girls on a road trip in a weird, old place. Julian is a beautiful place, but is a bit old and weird. Well here are just a few of this apple orchard farm town.

Hang Loose
When Daddy is a surfer the whole family knows how to hang loose and have a good time. Jacksen, Justice and "Baby Girl" Devin are such fun and joyful little people that made this shoot real easy. We got to their house, raided the garage for surf and skate boards and went on our way. The cloudy day also made it real easy to shoot without the glaring sun and squinty eyes. Even though the sky was grey their happy little smiles light up all the shots. Makes me smile to look at these photos. They also happen to be our neice and nephews so I might be a little biased. :)
NAWBO's Award Recipients
A beautifully wonderfully inspiring group of women this is. The National Association of Women Business Owners or NAWBO as they call themselves met at Safire in Camarillo to meet their award recipients. I had the honor of meeting these women and photographing them as they mingled and congratulated and encouraged each other. The women that will be receiving awards had been nominated as outstanding business owners and community workers and military servicewomen among other honors. They were together to get to know each other before the following weeks award ceremony and it was simply a fun and inspiring night.

Colleen and family
Sweet. Aren't they? I think so. This is my friend Colleen and her family. It was so nice to get to know her kids a little better. We've been friends for a while, but when we're together, our kids are all so busy together. It was sweet to watch them all together, with just little old me interupting.

Jean and Tyler
Well it just so happens Mother's day is today. I was thinking through the relationship of a mother and child. There are few things I could think of that compare to it. And this momma and son have a beautiful relationship. Joy and laughter resonate through their words with each other. It was so nice to walk through Strathearn Park with them, catching up a little, meeting her son a little, drinking in the afternoon sun some, and of course taking a few pictures of them together.

Morning!
The days always start new. Fresh. We just have to fill in the blanks. That simple.
(and children seem to know how to do it best.)
I really like it. Capturing the moments, faces, expressions, relationships, and loveliness of all this present moment holds. Sometimes so easily forgotten, but hopefully a few clicks will make it easier to remember when this moment and month and year is past.

Naomi turns 3
She's my baby. Just turned 3. Nothing but thankful. No particular reason except that she's a miracle. Aren't they all?

I've got SUNSHINE
On cloudy days we sing "I've got sunshine on a rainy day, when it's cold outside, I've got the month of May..." So it gave me an idea for a background as I have been pondering our family photo shoot coming up sometime in spring. This is a work in progress. It was a cloudy day the day I took these. I found a ton of tule and had some other material and thought it would make a nice background. We had made the clouds earlier in the week with the kids and had put fishing line so that I could hang it. In the end, I should have skipped the fishing line as it is hard to see and we ended up ripping two of the clouds. But all in all they are pretty on a photo and just have to work out the background idea a bit better. So here it is...though it's really just funny because my little ones don't pose well. If someone, by chance asks the little one to smile, it's not quite a smile at all.

Graham and fam.
This is Graham. This sweet boy has such lovely parents that have been friends with my husband and I for some time. It just so happens little Graham turned 1 today! This top picture is from today, but the rest are of him when he was just a few weeks old. They were taken in February 2010.
(The top picture taken with a Nikon 7000, and the rest with a Nikon D40)

May 2010 Maternity
I am going to start uploading pictures from past sessions as I find them. Eventually, I hope to get a variety up here. Maternity and babies, families and couples.
This one is my friend in all her loveliness during her pregnancy with twin boys. So sweet. I enjoy maternity shoots almost as much as newborn shoots. They seem to go hand in hand, but to me they are so different.
This was shot with my Nikon D40 in or around May 2010 in my backyard.
The next 4 should be set on a film strip side by side, but it would look so tiny on this website. The series makes me smile. Kelly and her son were playing around, laughing and making rasberries on her baby belly.
This one was actually a family shoot, but the one I posted is just her in the foreground and her son and husband had walked a bit down the hill and are in the background.
